Images from my walk today. It was a little chilly and very windy but I found it very nice and almost no one else was out.

Saw this empty cardboard box one of the art classes was going to get rid of, so I snatched it from them, cleaned it up, and turned it into a blanket nest.

It’s got an armful of my stuffed animals (not easy to tell in the photo but toothless is holding a tribble from Star Trek I named Terry), a giant squish mallow, and of course a weighted blanket for Donnie (plus I like weighted blankets). I’m sure Mayhem will start adding his toys in it when he sees it.

how dk you think the rottmnt would deal with having a s/o who has a pet cat who they are very close with. Like the cat will just sit on their shoulder. The cat will do tricks for s/o. The cat comes over when name is called. If the cat falls off something, s/o instantly catches it and sits it where it was going to go. The cat had at first hissed and scratched at the turtles if they tried touching the cat and s/o was like “He’s just shy. He has to get you used to you slowly”. Eventually the cat did indeed, sit on the turtles lap?

A/N: adding Casey because he grew up in the apocalypse so it'd be fun to write him with an animal that isn't a yo'kai or mutant

Donnie

He likes animals

Prefers ones that don't really care about people

So learning you had a cat wasn't that bad

He didn't mind that your cat didn't like him

He kept his distance, not getting in the cat's space

But when the cat finally sat on his lap?

Donnie is a bit shocked

Still he doesn't touch it, wanting it to be comfortable

Soon you find your cat laying on his desk while he works

Leo

He loves animals

Especially fluffy ones

He was so sad that your cat was shy

He tried to take it slow

But ended up with scratches all over his arms

One day he was sitting on the couch, scrolling on his phone

And your cat slowly crawled onto his lap

Best day of his life

Leo gently pet your cat, grinning like an idiot

Mikey

Loves all animals

Loves your cat

But your cat doesn't like him

He's so sad

So jealous that you get to pet your cat

He's so sad

He just wants to love the cat

Hold it, pet it

After a while, the cat finally approached him while he was painting

It sat next to him, leaning against him slightly

Mikey screams inside, gently petting your cat

He adores animals

He's so jealous seeing your cat cuddle and purr at you

It took a while for your cat to get used to him

Once your cat sat itself onto Raph's lap he almost squealed

What is a cat?

In the apocalypse they didn't really have pets

Except for the rats if you could call them pets

Seeing how your cat interacted with you, made him want to be friends with your cat

Often talking about the cat yo'kai/mutants he knew in the apocalypse

But your cat didn't like him

Casey was distraught

Why didn't the cat like him?

He tried to be friendly, talking to your cat

But the cat would scratch at him

Even more sad

Until one day...

Your cat finally curled up on his lap

He silently waved at you, pointing to the lump on his lap excitedly

He was grinning ear to ear

I’m a bit of a nerd about biology so I do have some potential ideas about how Donnie would know about the kiddos. While regular turtles will nest for all their eggs, fertile or not, donnie doesn’t seem to have that instinct. The unfertilized eggs to him seem to be similar to a human on their period. So when the eggs are fertilized, maybe he does have that nesting instinct. Like he subconsciously knows and gets a severe bout of anxiety about making sure to have a good safe nest for these eggs. There could also be some kind of mystic thing that can be done to confirm his suspicions.

i think both leo and donnie do have some degree of a 'nesting instinct' when they're on their cycle even now, they just don't currently have the chance to answer it. but i guess when they're typically on their cycle it's akin to their instincts gently being like, 'hey, uhm, a little burrow might be nice...' but when there's actually a baby on board, it's more like 'DIG A FUCKING HOLE IN THE GROUND AND GET IN IT, N O W MOTHERFUCKER. WE NEED SOFT BLANKETS AND DARKNESS RIGHT THIS INS T AN T.'

which does probably come with a great deal of anxiety, restlessness, etc. there would also probably be more human-ish symptoms, such as not bleeding (or producing any unfertilized eggs) as expected, morning sickness, and other general hormone fuckiness. and i'm sure that between the forces of science and mystics combined, they could figure out some sort of ninja turtle pregnancy test.
